X-SEED 4000: World’s largest structure will house 1 million people, obstruct the Sun and possibly be the future of all humankind
The building boom in Dubai might seem miniscule in comparison to this super-mega-ultra-über structure. Being designed by Tansai Construction Corperation , this mega structure is designed to be 7 times as tall as the worlds tallest completed existent building (Taipei 101), contain 800 stories and have a footprint of 6 kilometers and be located on Tokyo harbor.
To Quote
“Designed by Taisei Construction Corporation as an “intelligent building,” the futuristically-named X-Seed 4000 would maintain light, temperature, and air pressure in response to changing external weather conditions.”
More after the jumpThe project is expected to run anywhere from $300 billion to $600 billion and be loacated off the coast of Tokyo.
My impressions range from: Wow this is going to really mess up Tokyo’s shipping lanes to the possible price range being one tenth of the annual budget of the United States. I am feeling that Japan, with its stagnant birth rate, has no real reason for building a structure to house 500,000 to one million people. (Except to show off)
This design was originally designed by Tobias Bernstrup and shown at a 2004 showing at the Center for Contemporary Images in Geneva. The original video is not present on the internet
